A.V. Ebblewhite

Ebblewhite

The firm started out selling Banjos as J.H. (John Henry) Ebblewhite in 1880. The name changed to A.V. (Albert V.) Ebblewhite in 1901 when his son took over the business. Despite saying "Maker" on the label, they was actually a distributor not a manufacturer and most of the banjoleles were actually made by Windsor, (Wilmshurst of London and Matthew of Birmingham were the other suppliers but neither of these firms bade Banjoleles). The company was in business until 1966 and for a while they also exported Windsor banjos to the USA under the brand name of AV & Co. (I don't know if Banjoleles were included in this trade?)
