21st c. Luthiers from Europe click for more
In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.
Antony Moggridge - Shonky
From Somerset, UK he specialises in stringed instruments made from reclaimed materials this includes Ukuleles and Banjoleles
From the UK he started making Banjoleles on his retirement in 2000 and only makes Abbott Monarch copies which he calls 2K as that's when he started
From London, UK. She is largely self taught and has been making instruments since 2007 and is now a full time luthier. She specialises in making the older and more obscure fretted chordophones from around the world but she has made a few Ukuleles and includes a Soprano in her current catalogue and if commissioned, she will make any size of Ukulele. One thing she definitely doesn't make thought, is Banjos or Banjoleles, (unless you wanted a wooden one)
