In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.

Colin Oldham - DRC / Black Box

He started out just making the Resonator Cones for instruments under the brand name Delta Resonator Cones, (easy to spot his cones as they have DRC on the Biscuit Cover). But having produced cones for others to fit, he first of all, started fitting them to instruments himself, the most common example being an Ohana CKP70, (and I'm not sure if this was officially endorsed by Ohana but I have seen examples with Ohana on the metalwork too?). He has now gone on to produce his own Instruments from scratch under the brand name of Black Box
Delta Resonator Guitars use the cones but are totally separate from Black Box

Richard Baudry

Based in Estaires, France he started he career in luthiery in 1991 and since then has made over 100 Guitars. In addition to making Guitars he also runs courses on luthiery. He has also introduced Ukuleles to his catalogue but so far I have only seen a solid electric Tenor design with a bolt on neck.

Shane Heighway

He is an Englishman who lives and works in Finland but beyond this I don't know much because he only has a facebook site. From this it looks like he is full time and only makes Ukuleles and has been doing so since before 2012
