Fishuku Zebrawood Soprano at Ukulele CornerMy Zebrawood Soprano
There are a number of North American importers and retailers who have a range of Ukuleles they import, usually from China, and then brand with their own name. They are usually better than the budget end, (though may include a budget end model) and some can be quite good quality.

Goldfish Guitars

This is a Christian distributor from Texas, who have all of their instruments shaped like fishes (something to do with the fish being an early Christian symbol?).In the catalogue of fish shaped Guitars is a range of fish shaped Ukuleles they call Fishuku. They started out only with Soprano scale laminate mahogany or zebrawood models plus a selection of budget looking coloured ones. The coloured ones were dropped in 2013 and replaces with the addition of Concerts, and a number of more exotic tonewoods used; probably still laminate though? The budget end is now an orange and white model that is suppose to look like a clownfish and called the Clownuku (any resemblance to Disney-Pixar characters? I couldn't possibly comment) In 2014 they followed this up with a colourful Concert they have called the Tanguku

Designed in San Francisco manufactured in the Far East, (Most in China, but the best ones come from Vietnam). The company was founded in 2010 by Mike Mulqueen. The catalogue consists of Soprano, Concert and Tenor scales with either a mahogany or spruce top on a mahogany body. The Choice range is the lower end with some being laminate but the Select range is all solid wood
