In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.

Garrett Gardner - 3G Woodworks

Hi is based in Nampa, Idaho and started the firm in 2007. In the beginning he made general woodwork items but in 2010 he started making Ukulele and Guitars, and in 2014 he added Tenor Guitars to the catalogue. The Ukuleles he makes are Concert or Tenor scale and in a number of woods but I have never seen an extra string options. The Tenor Guitars he makes have a wide neck and can easily be tuned as Baritones.

Ron Phillips - Metal Guitars

Working out of San Francisco, California, he has been in business making both steel and wood bodied resonator instruments since 1992. He makes Concert and Tenor Ukuleles, plus Tenor Guitars, Guitars and Mandolins

Joseph (Scooter) Shuter - Shuterkan Ukuleles

From Boise, Idaho, and was a research and development machinist before retirement. He started making Ukuleles in 2008 and founded Shuterkan in 2009 making only Tenor scale Ukuleles from mainly reclaimed wood. He also developed his own adjustable bridge because he didn't like the fact that traditional Ukulele bridges led to some intonation issues
