21st c. luthiers from Mainland USA click for more
In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.
Currently based in Orangeburg, New York, he use to be the luthier and repair person for Gryphon Strings in California. he returned to his home in New York state some time after 2010 and opened his own shop. He still does a lot of repair work and his shop is an authorised repairer for Martin and Taylor Guitars, but he does make custom instruments from scratch when commissioned and these include so Ukuleles.
From Venice Beach, California, he is mainly a furniture maker (and the brand name may only be for the furniture, the name is not used on the sound hole label?), but in 2013 he added musical instruments to his catalogue. He makes Guitars and Concert scale Ukuleles; he may make other scales but I've only seen Concert.
He says he apprenticed under Jeffery S, (whoever he is?) and appears to have started making Ukuleles in 2010 he seems to have moved around the islands a bit and in 2012 was working from Kauai However in 2014 he was living on the Mainland at Pelham, Massachusetts and working as a cabinet maker who also does luthiery. He makes Soprano Concert and Tenor scales often in koa and has has made Lili'us too
