In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.
Based in Lahaina, Maui he works with his Father in law making custom Ukuleles and Guitars. He started KP Ukuleles in 2000 and does all scales of Ukulele along with 5,6 and 8 string variants. In addition to his standard KP Ukuleles he also does reproductions of old style Hawaiian Ukuleles for Kahiko Vintage Reproductions

From Kapolei, Oahu, and given his apparent output of less than 5 instruments a year I doubt he is a full time luthier but I haven't found much on him. I think he went to the University of Hawaii and is a member of the luthiers guild of Hawaii. I know he has been making Ukuleles since before 2007 and all of the models I have seen have been Tenors.
From Kauai, Hawaii, he started out as a luthier in the early 1990's and makes Guitars along with all the standard sizes of Ukulele, plus Lili'u and Taropatches. His Ukuleles are usually made of Koa and come with the island of Kauai inlaid in abalone shell on the headstock.
